These stories illustrate the way the community comes together to fundraise, play sports, hold special events and enjoy the open space in an increasingly busy urban environment.
The park also serves as a war memorial. A heritage- listed band stand, which opened in 1922, honours the soldiers who lost their lives fighting the First World War. A monument also stands in the park commemorating the comradeship between Australia and Vietnamese soldiers during the Vietnam War.
Over the last 100 years the Cabra-Vale Memorial Park has transformed into a beautiful landscape of mosaic designed pathways, seating, exercise equipment, a rainwater garden and a recreational space. The artwork in the park promote a culture that is rich in diversity and captures the social history of Cabramatta and Canley Vale.
