Published byFairfield City Museum and GalleryDescriptionAt the Front & Home commemorates the involvement of local people in World Wars I and II, in the year of the 90th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli and the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.
The stories collected for this exhibition frame the wars according to personal experiences - some unique to the Fairfield area, but many shared by people all around Australia and overseas.
We hear from Fairfielders who left home to serve at the Front, those who stayed at home and helped with the war effort, and even some who settled in Fairfield after the wars. Many more stories could be told, but their owners do not wish to recall.
Many of these stories have been collected and written by children and grandchildren, who have discovered and documented some of their grandparent's life experiences. Through these stories, we all learn more about the personal hardships, sorrow and destruction caused by war.Copy rightsFairfield City Council
