Date17/02/1992DescriptionThe photograph shows a parkland setting with some small buildings in the background. There appears to be a park bench and garbage bins and some timber rubbish in the foreground.PhotographerPossibly photographed by Perumal Murphy Wu Pty Ltd Geolocation[1] NotesThe Magic Kingdom Pleasure Grounds were a private fun park, picnic ground and caravan park since about 1950. However the area was probably used for passive recreation from the Victorian era at least for boating on Prospect Creek. It was a large, generally flattish area with an important stand of indigenous remnant forest trees including a fine grove of indigenous Blue Box (eucibauerana), Forest Red Gum, Mahogany, Grey Gum, Iron Bark and Kurrajong. The trees were up to 25 metres high and probably the oldest was over 100 years old. There were also a few Radiata Pines up to 18 metres planted c. 1960s. The picnic and plag ground facilities included a giant slide, boating pond and amenity buildings. The caravan park was in the south-east corner. At the time this photograph was taken the Grey Gums beside Hollywood Drive appear to be dying, probably due to filling over the roots.
