He worked as a tailor at Anthony Squires. In 1964, Antonio, together with some other Italian tailors living in Fairfield, opened Roma Tailoring in Shop 9, Main Street Mall, Fairfield.
Antonio went back to work at Anthony Squires briefly, before acquiring and running Roma Tailoring by himself for the next 10 years.
The demand for formal men’s tailoring in Fairfield had decreased by 1974 and Roma Tailoring business closed. With migration from South East Asia concentrating in Fairfield and Cabramatta, different tailoring and outfitting needs were required, and undertaken by outworkers in homes and garages.
