With its multilingual parish and its long history, St John's Church is a concrete reminder of the area's development. The site is part of one of the first British land grants in the Fairfield area. In 1803 Governor King declared the Grant of the establishment of an Orphan School. The original Church was a small wooden building, which opened in 1915, holding donated furniture. The modern building you see today hosts truly multicultural Anglican and Vietnamese Evangelical congregations. Essentially the tour represents the multicultural aspect of the City, assists in promoting the LGA and helps to inform tour participants of the historic and cultural aspects of multicultural Fairfield.
