DescriptionFairfield Council needed to adjust services for community during lockdown in 2021. Many staff took on new roles as part of the response.
The Local Emergency Management Committee provided the leadership with coordination for the local response led by the Fairfield Local Area Commands. Fairfield City Council health, VCJ and a number of other state agencies were able to provide and ensure that communication and response to the community was effective, efficient and swift.
One of the issues identified early in the second wave was food security. In response, Council quickly redirected its staff in childcare, to cook 35,000 meals, frozen meals, as well as transforming the Prairiewood Leisure Centre to a food distribution hub, which handed out 140,000 meals to residents in Fairfield during that short period.RightsFairfield City Council
