Separating from the local RSL group, the FCDNA was granted affiliation in 1973 by the NSW Netball Association to provide their players with the many benefits from playing with the larger state-wide organisation.
In their decades-spanning history, the FCDNA have raised the standard of netball in Fairfield and the wider regional community. Through grants and funding from the Department of Sport and Recreation, Fairfield City Council and the association itself, the FCDNA have provided Fairfield with numerous netball facilities, such as hard courts, control towers, and clubrooms. Endeavour Reserve, a well-known sports park in the City of Fairfield, has been home to many netball games hosted by the FCDNA and the site for most of these facilities. These facilities ultimately have held numerous local and state competitions, throughout the history of the FCDNA.
Likewise, players have competed in and won these competitions. In 1974, one year after its formation, the group’s 12 years representative team won the State Age Championships. Five years later, in 1979, saw a second championship winner for the FCDNA with their 14-year-olds team. In 1985, the association had a team competing in the State League Competition for the first time. But despite these illustrious victories and participation in much bigger affairs, which brought considerable attention to the association, the FCDNA remembered their local community roots, hosting the Fairfield City Games netball section multiple times.
At the same time, the members, especially leadership, of the association have grown with the organisation and devoted their time and energy to supporting players and celebrating netball. In return, life membership has been bestowed upon Lynn Quinn, Betty Greenaway and Maureen Bradford for their contributions to the association. See also oral history interviews with club organisers.
