Collection SummaryA collection of oral histories with residents of the Bonnyrigg Housing Estate. They share their views on the plan that involved the demolition of old properties to make way for a new mixed community of private and social housing.
The Bonnyrigg Living Communities project (also the Bonnyrigg Renewal Project) was the first social housing Public Private Partnership (PPP) project in Australia and was designed to create new social and private housing by redesigning, renewing and reinvigorating an existing 81-hectare public housing estate within the western Sydney suburb of Bonnyrigg.
At the start of the project, the estate included 833 public housing homes and 97 privately owned homes. Community Housing Provider, SGCH, was involved as the PPP's tenancy and rehousing.
NotesAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander visitors are advised that the oral histories in this collection contain images, names and voices of deceased persons.DisclaimerOral histories are a recording of personal memories, views and perceptions.
