This photograph was taken at 'The Junction', a popular recreation area at the junction of Prospect Creek and Georges River.

Stamped along the bottom of the beige coloured cardboard surround is 'Thornley, Church St, Parramatta".Geolocation^[1]Wilga Street Fairfield.NotesThe site of the Symons Bros tile factory was in Wilga Street, Fairfield. The business operated in Fairfield from 1895 until the end of WWII. Verbal information suggests that Symons Bros may have had a site in Smithfield before 1895 but this has not been confirmed.

In 1948, it was reported that the company was producing enough tiles to roof approximately forty homes per month.

The original source of this image was Eli Quartermain. He was a manager at Symons Brothers Tile Works in Fairfield between about 1904 and 1912.
