DescriptionThe Dr Pirie Memorial Baby Health Centre, located on Ware Street, Fairfield, pictured in its final days before closure in 1962. Established as a dedicated facility for maternal and child health services, the centre played a vital role in supporting local families for many years. In 1962, the site was sold for commercial redevelopment, and the baby health services were transferred to the newly opened Civic Centre in Fairfield. The relocation marked the end of an era for the original Ware Street facility, which had been a familiar landmark for generations of parents and children.PhotographerBarry GilmourNotesCopies of photographs published in The Advance newspaper, acquired by Fairfield Library in 1980 through Vance George during research for the Fairfield history book (1982).
