Cabramatta West was originally part of the wider Cabramatta district, an area that developed from farmland and semi‑rural holdings throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries. Families in the region engaged in small‑scale agriculture, orchards, and poultry farming.
After the Second World War, the Fairfield region experienced significant population growth as migrants from Europe and later Asia settled in the area. Cabramatta West gradually shifted from rural land to small residential pockets.
