Fairfield School of Arts is of significance for the local area for historical and aesthetic reasons, for social significance that it has for the local community and as representative of transition from late Victorian to Federation period style buildings in the area. This turn-of-20th c. building makes an important contribution to the streetscape and the area and presents a local landmark. The building has social and historical significance as a major centre of social activity from the late nineteenth century onwards. Architecturally, it is a good example of Late Victorian and Federation period “high styles”, relatively rare in Fairfield City.
