Cabravale Leisure Centre (formerly Cabramatta Swimming Pool)
Main
DescriptionThe swimming pool was first known as the Fairfield Municipal Centre Swimming Pool. The pools were opened on Saturday 3rd December 1960 and had an estimated 300 people attending the ceremony and swimming exhibition.
Working with Edna Ryan, the deputy mayor of Fairfield City council at the time, Margaret Whitlam had lobbied for a local pool around 1957, likely since the Whitlam family were having to travel to further out suburbs if they wanted to go to a pool once they moved from Cronulla to Cabramatta during this time.

The pools evolved to become what is now the Cabravale Leisure Centre from September 2007, with the intention that it serve as a centre of wellbeing for clients experiencing a range of health conditions.
