The Von Heiden Gardens are of significance for the people of Fairfield area for historical, aesthetic, associative and reasons of rarity and representativeness. The site was previously occupied by residence of Von Heiden, the picturesque series of buildings opposite Lattys’ Boatsheds on Prospect Creek. The Von Heiden estate included an unusual federation-style tower (variously described as a pigeon loft or a grain store) that was a prominent landmark for many years. The remnant notable garden comprise a number of significant indigenous trees.
