Collection SummaryChloë Nour was selected as Fairfield City Photographer in 2025.
This annual program aims to capture the people and places of Fairfield City today, creating a record for the future through a growing collection of photographs.
The focus for the 2025 program was towards celebrating women in our community, highlighting their often unseen and unsung roles and contributions. With this commission we were also looking to record the strength and resilience of women, individually or collectively.
Chloë's work in this project has also highlighted the distinctive and creative suburban landscape of the Fairfield City area.DescriptionChloë Abdelnour is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Sydney, Australia on the unceded lands of the Cabrogal and Gadigal peoples.

Prior to their time as City Photographer, Chloë said:
“I'm deeply inspired by the rich tapestry of immigrant stories that define my hometown, Fairfield. Women, embodying profound resilience and creativity, are often the backbone of their families and communities. I’m particularly in awe of immigrant mothers, who leave behind everything they know to forge new lives in Australia in the face of adversity.
This resonates with me personally, as I come from a proud lineage of immigrant matriarchs - my paternal grandmother left Egypt following the destruction of her home in Sinai with her five children to start anew in Australia, and my maternal grandmother seeking a new adventure sailed across the sea for months with her firstborn, my mother. Through a series of intimate portraits, I seek to celebrate the lives and legacies of some of the remarkable women who shape our community.”
