He is now a pastor and is married and has one child. His wife is also from Togo.
Emmanuel had schooling from age of six and left at the age of 16. He went to the neighbouring country of Benin because of political problems and as a refugee spent 16 years there. During his years in Benin he learnt painting and electrical trades. Food was scarce so he and his wife and six year old son, as well as his 17 year old stepson, applied to leave as refugees.
They choose to migrate to Australia arriving on 1 August 2008. Initially they were housed at North Parramatta and then, after a series of moves, arrived in Cabramatta on 28 December 2009. The family was largely assisted by their church as well as the Housing Commission.
Emmanuel has a strong commitment to his Christian beliefs and is now a Pastor. He has attended TAFE to study English and also to learn more about painting and electrical technology.
He has a back injury which hampers many of his wishes. His son attends Cabramatta Public School and his wife is learning English.
