Article: Stella and Vic Holland moved to Sydney from country four years ago so Vic, a boil-maker, could find work.
Thanks to a court decision yesterday, they may now be forced back to Inverell, where they have a block of land, but few other prospects.
The Hollands live in the flood prone Parkside Caravan Park at Lansvale, near Liverpool, with their 10 year old grand-daughter, Melissa Cox, and a veritable ark-load of pets: four dogs, nine puppies, three cats, eight budgerigars and a talking white cockatoo. It's cramped and with rent at $85 a week, there'snot much left over from Vic's meagre earnings as a casual worker. But they like the lifestyle and adore their pets.
"It's the only caravan park in the whole of the metropolitan area where you can keep a dog for more than six weeks", Mrs Holland said yesterday.
Their van is nestled on a little knoll in the Park's Hollywood Drive, and is one of the few that son't have to be towed away when floods threaten. But, like the other 40 families living there, the Hollands are evacuated when the water rises.
"It's not a great worry, just a pain in the neck" Mrs Holland said yesterday. "You get used to the inconvenience."
