Details
InscriptionThe newly completed installation is within the Commonwealth Archives Repository at Villawood, 14 miles from the centre of Sydney.
The $4 million complex houses all Commonwealth archives from NSW and replaces the old Maroubra Naval Stores Depot.
The square footage of floor space at Villawood is half that of previous repository.
The Maroubra Repository consisted of two buildings providing a total of 180,000 sq ft of floor space.
All the material from Maroubra has been stored in Part 1 of the Villawood complex and requires total floor space of 52,000 sq ft. The new Villawood complex, stage 1 (parts 1 and 2), provides a total of 91,000 sq ft of usable floor space.
This near four-fold increase in storage space has been obtained by the use of Brownbuilt's Maxtor mobile storage system.Image ColourBlack & WhiteImage Size240 mm x 110 mmFile SizeJPG : 5.45 MBTypePrintOriginalYesAccessAppointment required to view original photographCopyrightRestrictedRightsFairfax MediaAcknowledgementFairfield City Council acquired copies in December 2020 from Daniel Miller Californian photography dealer).
