Record wool stockpile at Yennora Wool Centre

Photograph Information

Date13/01/1990DescriptionImages show Yennora Wool Centre Manager Sam Yeates (pointing) and Floor Manager Arthur Douglas inspecting their record level stockpile. With nearly 2 million bales of wool in stock at $1000 per bale, the market value of this stockpile is worth close to 2 billion dollars!

The record high price for wool from previous year was largely driven by Wool Speculators and has now contributed to a downturn in wool price. This lead to the Australian Wool Corporation setting up a market support fund and buying up more than 50 % of the wool on offer.PhotographerBruce MillerNotesROGERS-www.johnrogersarchice.com
