Date11/06/1991DescriptionThere are two lions placed on each side of the Pai Lau Gate. Lions are traditionally placed at entrance points to prevent evil from entering.
The lion to the left is female and is seen protecting her young. The lion on the right is the male and he has a globe under his paw representing the flower of life. The flower of life is said to contain the patterns of creation as made from the Creator's thought. The female lion protects the people inside, while the male guards the structure.
1n 1986 the Cabramatta Beatification Association was formed by local business and cultural associations. The gateway was opened in 1989 and commemorates the refugees who have come to Australia, the Australian people and the Australian government who offered them asylum.
The beautification project included planting of golden robina trees, installation of oriental objects such as Chinese lanterns, silken banners, and stone sculptures, brick paving, etc...PhotographerSteve ChristoGeolocation[1] NotesROGERS-www.johnrogersarchice.com
