Date12/11/1988DescriptionSimon Bull is solidly-built and a Canley Vale High School student until this year, has his own personal account of gang conflict. The people he clashed with were not Vietnamese but other Asians suffering the same problems of readjustment and alienation, evidence perhaps of the problems of one ethnic group bouncing on to another.
On January 21, during the school holidays, Simon was standing on Cabramatta station waiting for a train and became involved in a scuffle with a gang of Russian Chinese and was stabbed with a long-bladed knife. It punctured and destroyed his spleen, penetrated his lung and went within a centimeter of his heart. He was lucky to survive. Four youths were arrested after the incident.
