DescriptionThis is a compilation video of seven interviews recorded for the Memories of the Vietnam war project.
Fairfield Memories of the Vietnam War (FMOTVW) is an oral history project aimed at capturing recollections, experiences and memories of local war veterans
The project took place in 2022, 50 years after the last Australian troops returned home, marking the end of Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War in 1972.
FMOTVW aims to promote understanding of the service and sacrifice of local military personnel involved in the Vietnam War. Through capturing the memories and stories of both Australian military service personnel and those fighting for the South-Vietnamese army, this project will inform and educate the wider Fairfield City community.
FMOTVW was supported by the 2021 Anzac Community Grants Program, CabraVale Diggers Club, Fairfield RSL and Smithfield RSL.
The interviews were prepared and conducted by our staff and recorded and produced by Adrian Munn.
Seven video interviews were conducted. The interviewees were:
1- Bach Huy Phan
2- Denis Patrick Wass
3- Hank Riedstra
4- James (Jim) Barry Wrigley
5- Lawton Fox
6- Raymond John Betts
7- Walter Raymond Robinson
The outcomes of this project were presented through a public event hosted at the Cabra-Vale Diggers Club on 26 August 2022.
